Security Dogs

Security dogs are trained to pick up on intruders or hidden persons by scent, sight or sound, to protect their handler by standing their ground and showing controlled aggression, when confronted with threatening behaviour and are able to detain a suspect until the authorities arrive to deal with the situation.

What Breeds Do We Use for Security Dogs?

Breeds currently trained at the School are : German Sheperds and Rottweillers for security dog patrols and English Springer Spaniels and Labradors for drug, arms and explosives detection dogs.

Security dog training and security dog handler training

The value of highly trained security dog can not be underestimated, which is why Ministry Protection Services Limited invested in its wholly owned dog training school - The Ministry K9 Training School. At Ministry Protection Services Ltd we also sell fully and part trained security dogs.

The guard dog training school is run by qualified dog trainers and adheres to the nationally recognised NASDU Codes of Practice for the training and operational requirements of security dogs, trainers, handlers and training companies and those who have responsibilities for the dogs care, health, safety and welfare.

The security dog training school is at the forefront of security dog training within the UK and stands on a site of appoximately 3 acres and provides 24 hour supervision and veterinary support for all the dogs. The dog training facilities provided within the school are second to none, with all the training staff being experienced security dog handlers with dog training qualifications.

Located on the outskirts of London amidst the rural countryside of Enfield, Middlesex. The School is situated just 10 minutes from junction 25 of the M25 motorway and is therefore easily accessible from all major roadways linking London and the remaineder of the UK. This perfect quiet location provides excellent practical dog training.

Security dog handler training

Security dog handler training courses are physically and mentally demanding.The security dog handlers must quickly learn new and varied subjects ranging from legislation to veterinary practices and canine psychology.The courses are based on a criteria set by NASDU and are designed to give a candidate knowledge on how to groom and care for their dogs, operational duties such as patrolling, search, safety, security duties and handler protection and most importantly the security dog handler is taught how to command and control a dog though obedience control and agility exercises.
